Jennifer and Austin had a beautiful wedding at Coles Garden. The weather was a little warm, but tolerable. I loved the picture with the groomsmen and sunglasses. That’s attitude!

We just don’t get much good snow in Oklahoma. A recent storm dropped an unusual seven inches that clung nicely to trees and buildings. I had to take advantage of this opportunity and Matt was sport enough to be a part of it.

It is unusual for us to get much snow in here in central Oklahoma.  When we do get snow, it is frequently of small quantity and is very blown by the wind.  An unusual storm came through the first part of January, first coating everything with 1/2″ of ice and then dumping 7″ of snow.  The other thing that was unusual was the perpetual Oklahoma wind was not to be found, leaving piles of snow on fences and trees.   A wonderful landscape to photograph.

I have always been fascinated with the “Golden Years of Hollywood” look – images from the 30s, 40s and early 50s of Hollywood stars. I decided I would create a new look/product line based on this concept. The result is my “New Look Glamor”. But what is “New Look Glamor Photography”?

New Look Glamor

New Look Glamor

New Look Glamor Photography is simple, uncluttered and timeless. Through the use of very controlled lighting and corrective posing, I reveal the subject’s beauty and minimize their flaws.

New Look Glamor Photography is not revealing.  An image can be fun and sensual without being revealing.

New Look Glamor Photography is not “Glamour Shots.” I do not rely on heavy make-up or props and use much more flattering posing and lighting.

All women want to appear beautiful and glamorous. This product is targeted towards women that are 19-30, but any woman is welcome. I believe I can make any person – any woman – look beautiful.

Clayton is a multi-talented guy.  He plays cello, he is an Eagle Scout and has restored a VW Thing that was put out to pasture.  He was a little unsure about the whole picture thing when we started, but he got to talking and he relaxed and we had a great session.  It was a lot of fun and he and his mother really like the images.

I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Matt and Amber several years ago.  I was excited to hear they would be having a baby and offered them a “First Family Portrait”.   These images, done in black and white, are so dramatic and timeless.   It was great working with them and Christopher.  Christopher liked to sleep, which is good.  It’s easier to photograph a sleeping baby than a crying baby.

It’s always fun to photograph a wedding when you know the family.  Paul – Rebekah’s father – works with me on the A/V team at church.  I actually new a ring was coming before Rebekah!

The wedding was wonderful, but photographs we took between the ceremony and the reception were priceless.  We had a some extra time from when we left the church before we needed to be at the Embassy Suites, so we met the couple at OU for some great pictures.  To top it off, there was a fantastic sunset late in the reception that we captured just outside the hotel with the couple.

It was a blast, and the photographs were wonderful.

Autumn is a great time of the year to get outside and take  photographs of nature in its changing beauty.  If you’re seeking to capture some of that fall color, here’s some tips.

Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves

  • Sunny days will give you better color.  The colors of the leaves will appear more saturated when the scene is in sunlight as opposed to a cloudy day.
  • Back light the leaves.  Put the sun behind the leaves for maximum color.  This is similar to the effect of stained glass window.  Keep in mind, that you may have to set your exposure compensation to a “+1″ or even a “+2″ to get the desired results.  I would also recommend setting your color balance to daylight rather than leaving it in Auto White Balance.  If the camera is allowed to make all the decisions itself, it will try to compensate for the brightness of the leaves and the intense color.
  • Best results are early or late in the day – not when the light is straight overhead.
  • Focus on close-ups of individual leaves.  This is a very effective way to capture the intense color of the season.

Happy photographing.
